Reviews of Sista Monica
Awesome., June 16, 1999

I had the tremendous pleasure of hearing Sista Monica at the North Beach Festival in San Francisco on June 13th. At first, just milling around the party, I paid little attention, then I thought, "Damn, Katie Webster is here." I worked my way through the crowd, absolutely mesmerized by the power and beauty of Sista Monica's remarkable talent. I love Katie Webster but this woman is something way beyond. I grabbed one of her CDs on the way out and listened to it during my drive home. How wonderful. Chicago blues in Bay area traffic. Sista almost made it bearable. If you like the blues, get this album. Too much...

sister Monica aka Monica parker has a voice of an angel and the power of a speeding train. if you love etta James or Ruth brown or even to the young blues lover shemekia copeland you will love this cd . cd contians the usual uptempo swing to the heartfelt ballards of love and despair, the cd contains great accapella version of amazing grace/motherless child.
The Sista Does Play!, September 30, 1998
By Amy Tiemann "creator of www.MojoMom.com" (Chapel Hill, NC USA) - I had the good fortune to see Sista Monica live at the Monterey Jazz Festival, and I've never seen a singer win over a new audience so quickly. She was awesome! I bought the CD and it's the next best thing to hearing her live.
Sista Monica's comeback CD tells it all!, September 29, 2005
By Gary Gangnes (Aptos, CA United States)
Ohmygosh! Reading the insert, I learned that Sista Monica was absent for two years battling and beating a difficult cancer. Sista Monica wrote amazingly inspirational songs about her story in this album, many autobiographical. Can't Keep a Good Woman Down, Cookin' with Grease, It's Good to be Alive!, Surrender to Love. Amazing and hot music! I found myself dancing wildly in my livingroom, by myself, and then bought all her other albums (this was my first). The insert also told me she is donating 10% of the sales to healingjourneys.org, whose trademark is "Cancer as a turning point, from surviving to thriving!" Maybe the Powers that Be healed this woman so she can continue to inspire people for a long time to come! I have since read about her winning audiences over immediately, as she has sung all over the world. Treat yourself to this one. And you'll help people in real need too. Wow.

Caught Sista at the first ever Blues Festival held in Reno, Nevada. Sista stole the show. One fine looking and sounding woman. Great and keep up the good work. Hope to see you in Reno at the next festival. Kicks Butt!!!
Undeniably Excellent And Spell Binding.

I am relatively new to the blues scene and as such I can not lay claim to being an aficionado of this particular genre. Being from back East I had naturally heared of so called "Down Home Blues", but I had never heared of "Chicago Blues". I found this website and Sister Monica totally by accident and now I'm spell bound and completely hooked. "Bravo" my sister "Bravo".
Great Music!

Would love to have a new CD out every few months of Monica Parker! For now we are just greatful she was able to put this latest collection together........We missed her at the Mammoth Blues Festival this year....Bluesapalooza! Hope to see you there next year.......It's good to be alive and to be listening to Sista Monica!

Pure Joy, July 4, 2001

Album feels like it was pure joy for singers, musicians and studio to produce. One gets the sense it was a tribute to the songs Sista Monica grew up with and wanted to recreate, as a rememberance to her roots.
