Sista Monica Gospel & Inspirational Choir 2008
Sista Monica followed her heart in early 2008 when she started a gospel and inspirational workshop choir. She called out to those who wanted to sing, clap, march and learn the distinction between entertainment and musical ministry. They came from many walks of life: as mothers raising children, teachers, accountants, family therapists, HR assistants, jewelers, dancers, bathroom and automobile singers and a few professionals. It started out a a 10 week session that is now on it's 4th 10 week session. Members of her band including background singer Tammi Brown doubles on piano as she teached harmonies. Veteran piano and Hammond B3 organ player Danny B., and David Tucker on drums comes the rehearsals and performances. Donnie Caruth offers his gospel roots on rhythm and lead guitar. Doug Rowan is on Tenor saxaphone and Carolyn Brandy in on percussions.
David Jones adds his funk soul on bass. Harland sings "Soul Shine" with Sista Monica after she dances down the aisle to the inspirational music. The audience catches the spirit and dances and claps to the up-tempo beat.
This was during the pre-release of Sista Monica's 8th CD "Sweet Inspirations" April 26, 2008. The CD is released now and can be heard and purchased on www.cdbaby.com and www.itunes.com
